Copyright in Education

Technology makes it very easy to violate copyright laws in the classroom.  Technology is new, innovative, convenient and in most cases very reliable.  Technology also makes it very easy to copy, duplicate, find, and distribute others intellectual property.  Some issues are not readily identified as copyright infringement like sharing software and copying photographs.  I can attest to not being aware of the many ways of violating copyright laws.  As educators we must not leave our students subject to committing crimes.  While we are introducing these emerging forms of technology, we must teach our students the correct way to use them.  Just like plagiarism, not valuing or understanding copyright laws shows a lack of respect for another person's work and creativity.

There is a great video on YouTube titled Copyright in the Classroom, that explores Copyright issues in Education.  I really enjoyed this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoGrVmDj1Yo
